chapter eight
DreamsâGateway
to the Subconscious
For centuries, the mystery and majesty of dreams have intrigued cultures around the world, from the most primitive to the most advanced, but only in recent years have we begun to recognize the relevance of dreaming to self-empowerment. Aside from its essential role in facilitating healthful sleep, the dream experience is a personal gateway to the subconscious with its abundant empowering resources. Better than that, the subconscious by its very nature embraces the dream, not as an unwelcome intruder, but as a welcomed partner and collaborator. Embraced by the subconscious mind, the dream experience becomes a powerful agent for growth and change. In that role, the dream can promote restful sleep while at the same time opening totally new channels for growth and self-discovery.
Dreaming is a basic human need, and although we all dream, we may upon awakening recall only a small fragment of the dream, and that fragment can quickly disappear. But aside from simply recalling the dream experience, a major task we face is unraveling its significance and developing our ability to use the dream experience as a channel for personal growth and empowerment. Fortunately, programs are now available, several of which were developed in our labs, to do just that.
We now know that dreams donât do it for you; they instead work with you. In this chapter, weâll explore the multiple roles of dreams and develop programs that utilize dreams as sources of personal enlightenment and power. By working with your dreams, you can become empowered to solve difficult personal problems, enrich your social relationships, promote career success, activate your psychic potentials, and overcome all blockages to your growth. You can discover new ways of using your dreams to increase creativity, develop highly complex mental and physical skills, build motivation, and actually increase your rate of learning. Through your dreams, you can exercise your psychic skills, including your ability to see into the future and travel out-of-body to distant spatial realities. Beyond these, you can develop your ability to experience firsthand the spiritual realm with its advanced spirit guides and higher planes of spiritual power. All of these you can do for yourself through your interactions with your dreams as interactive channels of power.
the multiple roles of dreams
The self-empowerment roles of dreams are manifold, to include messenger, motivator, energizer, rejuvenator, protector, therapist, problem solver, and psychic activator, to list but a few. Each role functions often spontaneously and in cooperation with other roles to bring forth new knowledge, power, and change.
Possibly the most common role of dreams is that of messenger. In that role, the dream experience can uncover relevant experiences from your past to include your experiences from past lifetimes and between lifetimes. Your past experiences are forever with you as growth resources. Through increased knowledge of your past, you become empowered with a broader view of your existence and a deeper understanding of the relevance of your past experiences to your present growth and development. You develop a greater understanding of the endlessness of your existence and a deeper appreciation of your life at the moment.
